As part of his yearly contribution towards the holy month of Ramadan, the Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Mr Abdal Fatah Ahmed Khalil Alsattari, has supported some Muslim communities with bags of rice to assist them during the fasting period.
According to Mr Fatah Ahmed, Ghana is now his second home and therefore, see the people as his own family hence, being happy to share rice to his brothers and sisters in the month of Ramadan.
In an interview after shearing the rice to individuals from the various communities, , the Ambassador revealed that, the donation was in line with the teaching of Islam.
He averred that, the Holy month of Ramadan signified peace and love and therefore, what he did was to express love and appreciations of the Palestine people towards the Ghanaian people.
Ghana the Ambassador mentioned, had stood firmly behind the State of Palestine, in all their adversities. “We are grateful. We the Palestinians will stand against any oppression and destruction. We are strong enough, this is our land, we will defend it until we will be free one day”.
Mr Abdal Fatah Ahmed Khalil Alsattari however, called on other well meaning people to also show love to Muslims during the Ramadan period.
The Managing Editor for the Insight and Convener for Socialist Forum, Mr Kwasi Pratt Jr. also thanked Mr.Ahmed Khalil Alsattari and the State of Palestine for their kind gesture added that ,the people of Ghana would continue to support Palestine against injustices.
The Spokesperson for National Chief Imam, Sheikh Aremeyaw Shaibu on his part charge all Ghanaians to take into consideration, the common humanity, understand their needs and extend a hand of support to those who through no fault of theirs have found themselves in difficult circumstances.”
He urged all Muslims to develop the spirit of love during Ramadan and show compassion to the deprived in society saying, that is what makes religion meaningful because religion without compassion and love is empty ritual. “The Ambassador has demonstrated spirit of giving at the diplomatic level”.
