She thus ppealed with the Roads Ministry to come to their aid by helping them get those roads fixed to ensure free movement in the area.
Nana Efua Mensah noted that, due to that, she have to use her limited resources to do other developmental projects for the rural communities that are not much centred on, in terms of roads.
She revealed that, Afram Plains North Constituency has over 570 communities and out this number 222 are being located on the water bodies and she has done projects in all the aforementioned number of the communities within the constituency.
The Afram Plains North MP was speaking with Kingdom FM’s KONTIHEN KOFI OBOH. She noted that, even when giving 100yrs to construct all the 105Km roads she can’t unless the gov’t come to her rescue.
Betty Mensah further stated that, when it come to education in the area, she is doing her very possible best to sensitize her people to know that it is against the law to go for someone’s children and take them to Afram river for fishing activity.
She explained that, the main occupation of the residents of Afram Plains North is the fishing, they don’t have enough school infrastructure that they can take their children to and as a result they have no option than to teach them their handiwork [fishing work] to earn living when they grow up.
This, she said, when the International Communities or some Ghanaians see it they turn it upside down and say Afram Plains North is the Headquarters of child labour or child trafficking and such reportage worry her a lot because is not true
Betty Nana Efua Mensah further stressed, she is putting in place measures to make sure the education and sensitization goes down well with the people of Afram Plains North to understand and help each other so that going forward their children would have better life and contribute meaningfully to the society and the community they belong to.
She then commended Faks, the independent investigation body for seeing the kind of work she has done in Parliament and Constituency respectively in the year 2022 and crowned her as the overall best performing female MP in Ghana, saying she is very much exited and Ghanaians should expect more from her in 2023.
