The Minister for Energy, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has stated that, neither himself, nor anyone else acting on behalf of the Ministry has signed contract with GENSE.


This was contained in a press statement issued by the Communications & Public Affairs Unit of the Ministry.


According to the statement, the only contracts signed with Genser on record are by GNGC and GNPC.


The released averred that, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has taken note of a news item under the heading “Overturn Napo’s Approval of Genser Deal – Ghana Gas Workers Urge Akufo-Addo”


The contract between GENSER & GNGC the release revealed, predates the Minister’s tenure at the Ministry of Energy and was signed on behalf of the GNGC by Dr Ben Asante, its CEO and the Ministry duly informed.


Ministry of Energy the statement revealed, is aware of the briefing of the Senior Staff Association of the GNGC by its CEO adding that , he is misleading them for reasons best known to himself.


The statement said, at the appropriate time, the Ministry would fully come out with all documentation necessary in respect of the matter.


The issue according to the Communications & Public Affairs Unit, is being investigated by the Parliamentary Committee on Mines and Energy.


“The Ministry is mindful of the legal consequences of discussing same in those circumstances”.
